In 2019, we were contacted by an elderly woman with a second home in Norman, Oklahoma that she needed to sell to cover mounting medical bills. There was just one problem: her daughter was living in the house, and selling it meant finding a way to move her out first.
The daughter actually wanted to leave. Her grandchildren lived in Florida, and she’d been hoping to get closer to them for some time. But the obstacles were real — she couldn’t drive the distance herself, she had dogs that couldn’t fly with her, and she didn’t have the savings to cover a cross-country move.
So we stepped in. We covered the upfront cost of a moving van and hired a driver to take the daughter and her pets all the way to Florida. Once she was settled in near her grandchildren, we purchased the house from her mother, who was finally able to pay off her medical bills without the stress that had been weighing on her for months.
Sometimes selling a house isn’t really about the house — it’s about clearing the path for the people inside it. We were glad we could help both of them land where they needed to be.
